Aunt Martha

This is two cousins that live in Phoenix and I had to see them while we were here. I always called her Aunt Martha and Her husband was always Uncle Lenord. This is their son Len. Uncle Lenord got me my first job at First National Bank.

Phoenix, Arizona

We finally made it to Phoenix.

My Desert Flower

This was picked when we were in New Mexico. I risk life and limb to walk in the desert to pick them. I love them and they lasted for several days. But blooms gone now.
And they bloom and birds love them and drill holes in them to make nest.

O how say these little fellows are but I am happy and can die happy because I did get to see another one. Now we can move on.
O my look I got to see another one. Real Cowboy (my name for them) Cactus.

I think that is Picacho Peak in Picacho State Park. It is so majestic standing there with open desert all around.

This is just after we passed it and on the other side up close and personal.
Now how did that get in here. Its in Tucson also.

This is a 1/2 shot of town. Tucson

First Cowboy Cactus

I cant believe it I finally saw my first Saguaro Cactus. I am so lucky I saw one. I will be satisfied but do want to see another one.

This is looking at Tucson from l-10. I missed some of town because I saw the steeples and that is all she wrote.

These Mt's are called Dragon Mt's where Cochise was.

All the exits and some of the overpasses are all decked out with Some kind of design on them. We got off to go to the vistors station.

This was the next pull off and we are in Cochise County. The next few pictures are the Mt's that Cochise hid out in and eluded the Military. He was never found buy them. It is said he died and is buried in an undisclosed grave here in the Mt's.

Over Population

You here of over population yea right. Have I got some land and more land and more land for you. I brought a book on tape with me but I am so busy looking for a JackAlope and those big cactus. Now i know they aren't a figment of my imagination, but where are they. This is called the Dos Cabezas Mts. in Arizona.

How often do you see this at home. I want you to know I am really taking these pictures. We are really seeing what is behind this sign. You see it in pictures but it is so different in person. I could turn 180 deg. and it would be the same site just a different shape. All I can say with tears in my eyes is thank you Lord for this trip.

Had to tell Bugzey by but it sure was cute. Just look at that face.
I thought I had better throw one in where he was eating so you would know he was real and not a mirage.

My Jack A Rabbit

I couldn't believe he or she let me get this close to him or her. We saw him and stopped I got out and started walking very slowly toward him and he just watched me, then would eat a bite of grass then watch me some more. I got about 5 feet from him and new i was making him nervous. i took about 20 shots of him. Ill only show a few.

Isn't IT precious. Sonny said I couldn't have him. IT was bigger than Lucy.

Jackalope

After we left Alverado, Tx I have been looking and looking for a Jackalope. Its like looking for a Snipe. And I cant find one but I did make friends with a close relative.
We ate at a place called Grandberrys Home Cooking. When we came out this is what was right in front of us.

In our riding around to see what was in Lordsburg this Cactus was so pretty we turned around so I could snap it. It is called a Cholla Cactus.

Talk about going back in time. S&H Green Stamps. We are now in Lordsburg, NM. I have to say there isn't much there. We are here just for the night before we go into Arizona.

Driving through New Mexico and Arizona this Train Track paralleled the Interstate. It has two tracks on it and we were never without a train is site sometimes two and three.

I wanted you to see the speed limit out here. Gas is 3.03 to 3.15 for regular and they want you to pump it in and blow it out.

Roadrunner

Wanda I told you I got a picture of a Roadrunner!!!! He was on I-10 going into Deming (I think).

One of the Shops on the Square

As you can see it wasn't big at all. There was jewelry (didn't buy anything) honey and some pottery and not much of that. You are looking at the square the Church is behind the Green umbrella on left.

Before we left Las Cruces we drove about a mile to a village called Old Mesilla Village. They were having a craft fair on the green in the center of town. The Church is facing it.

This is Sun Rise in Las Cruces. We haven't seen a sun set yet, but I will catch one.

This was take out our front window. I could live here. Change my mind its too hot. Every one says dry heat. Get a life 104 is 104 and that is hot.
